• Tips For Planning An Animal Themed Birthday Party!

    An animal themed birthday party is a great way to entertain and educate children of all ages, and even adults! Travelling Critters is one of the longest running and original animal education companies out there! We have been in business for almost 20 years! We do animal birthday parties in the GTA, Durham, Clarington, Kawartha’s, and more. Give us a call, and we would be happy to answer any questions about your location or our animals!

    So, when it comes to planning your child’s birthday party, we have some great tips on planning, and keeping the children busy long after were gone or before we arrive!

    Here they are, enjoy!!

    1. As the children are arriving, have homemade (or bought), Safari hats with their names on them. This will help you identify the children, and set up a great mood for your animal themed birthday party!

    2. When the children arrive, they are usually super excited and bursting with energy. Have someone helping you; take the children into a room, where you have previously hid little animal or bug figurines around. Give them all little “critter catchers” (you can buy at the dollar store) and send them on a safari hunt, trying to find as many creatures as possible for their critter catcher. This can also be sent home with them, and be part of their animal themed birthday party loot bag!!

    Our animal show for the children is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your group! We sit all children in a semi-circle, and we take care of the entertaining for this time! So you can sit on back, relax while you can, and enjoy the show!!

    3. Animal art ideas- Can also be given away as part of the loot bag! How fun!!

    * Animal Picture Frames-

    Get little wooden picture frames from the dollar store. Have a station set up at the table for after, or before the show. On the table, have animal stickers, markers, glitter, and glue, anything they would need to decorate their picture frame! There are lots of photo opportunities. Make sure you take a picture of each child with their favorite animal throughout the show, and e-mail to the parents. They will then have a picture, for their beautifully decorated frame!

    *Make the cake, and eat it too! –

    Children love to make their own food; they feel proud and special when they get to help! Have everyone decorate their own cupcakes or animal cookies. Have items such as gummy worms, and gummy snakes and frogs, animal sprinkles, spider rings, and fun animal cupcake holders. They will feel accomplished and proud, and you will have fit it into your theme nicely!

    *E-Mail Us! We have colouring pages of our animals! We would be happy to e-mail them over to you in preparation for your birthday party!

    4. A prrrrrrfect loot bag!

    * Go to your local pet store; ask them to buy some cardboard critter carriers. The ones that they would send you home with a new hamster or pet rat in! Use these as your loot bags! They are adorable, sturdy, and stick to your animal theme!!

    We love giving you tips on how to make this special day, even more memorable! If you have any ideas or tips you would like to share, please send us over an e-mail! We would love to share it with other families!
